Corporate Sponsorship and Support

“Hadrian’s Wall is England’s top ancient monument.” USA Today

Hadrian’s Wall stands as a symbol of longevity, security and connectivity and is known and recognised the world over.

It is regularly included in films and television programmes as well as being the subject of numerous books and reams of travel features. It is a truly famous icon and for that reason attracts millions of people each year from across the globe.

The World Heritage Site doesn’t maintain its huge appeal all by itself though and in the background Hadrian’s Wall Heritage is engaged in numerous projects to ensure that the Wall’s global brand is maintained and improved.

These projects range from the building of a new museum to sustainable transport and access management to the production of guidebooks. As well as the constant attention needed to maintain the National Trail and engage with communities.

There is a massive opportunity for businesses to benefit from supporting the work that is ongoing in Hadrian’s Wall Country. The PR opportunities alone are hugely valuable insofar as the Wall offers powerful brand associations. Being seen to be integral to the ongoing preservation of the UK’s most important ancient monument also provides strong Corporate Social Responsibility messages while also illustrating to workforces that their employer values heritage, community and environment.

Unlike most other opportunities of this type, the Wall’s appeal is threefold and therefore lends itself to all manner of organisations. In the north of England it is seen as a local icon and the people are proud it is ‘theirs’. It is also a symbol of Britain and is used to illustrate the appeal of our country overseas. But as a UNESCO World Heritage Site it is also of great value to the planet and ranks alongside the Pyramids and Machu Picchu.

And research indicates that World Heritage status benefits the economy insofar as the wider appeal of an area is improved.

“World Heritage Designation can be an important ingredient in effective placemaking to attract talent and trade.” World Heritage Status, James Rebanks. 2010

The easiest way for businesses to benefit from an association with Hadrian’s Wall is simply by sponsoring a mile of the World Heritage Site for just £5,000 per year.

This costs far less than a one-off advert in a newspaper or a piece of direct mail and will provide companies with a positive message for staff and customers for a whole year.

On a larger scale, we can offer sole sponsorship of Wall wide internationally important cultural events for both the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 from £50,000.

Or the Hadrian’s Wall Country Bus, a sustainable transport project of three branded busses used and seen by millions of people each year across the north of England. Annual sponsorship of this and branding on all vehicles, internal and external plus timetables, tickets and bus stops is available for £30,000 per year.

We will empower all sponsors with the relevant branding materials and messaging to exploit the relationship and will of course publicise any sponsors through our own resources which themselves reach millions of people.
